SARS Cov2(COVID-19)

Description

UDX Laboratories utilizes a real-time RT-PCR molecular test for the SARS-Cov2 virus that causes the COVID-19 respiratory syndrome. This test is also designed to rule out Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus that have common symptoms to COVD-19.

Pathogen Identification:

Our technology allows us to rapidly identify the pathogens to make treatment decisions within 24 hours .

Virus Pathogen Targets:

  • Influenza A
  • Influenza B
  • Flu A Typing
  • Respiratory Syncytial Virus
  • SARS-Cov2 a SARS-Cov2 b (COVID-19)

Due to the limitations of our staffing during this pandemic, UDX will not be able to bill insurance companies for this test. Bacterial Vaginosis and Vaginitis

Description

Bacterial Vaginosis is an inflammatory condition that is caused by bacterial growth in the female reproductive organ.

Diagnostic tests are run to detect a series of bacteria pathogens responsible for Bacterial Vaginosis and Vaginitis.

Identifying Pathogen Detection

  • Trichomonas vaginalis
  • Escherichia coli
  • Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS)
  • MRSA Reflex
  • Bacteroides fragilis
  • Mycoplasma hominis
  • Mobiluncus curtisii
  • Mobiluncus mulieris
  • Ureaplasma urealyticum
  • Prevotella bivia
  • Enterococcus faecalis
  • Staphylococcus aureus

Symptoms

Symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis include
  • Foul odor
  • Vaginal itching along with gray, white, or green vaginal discharge
  • Burning sensation during urination

Causes and Risk Factors

Bacterial vaginosis occurs as a result of bacterial overgrowth and colonization within the vagina. Natural vaginal bacteria overgrows within the vagina, causing an abnormal ratio of bacterial anaerobes to lactobacilli.

There are many causes of bacterial vaginosis. Risk factors include multiple and or new sexual partners, douching that may cause unnatural bacterial growth, and natural lack of lactobacilli.

Treatments and Prevention

Preventing Bacterial vaginosis is important to decrease your risk of developing bacterial vaginosis. In order to minimize your risk, stay clear of vaginal irritants such as deodorant soaps and scented feminine products, avoid douching to maintain a bacteria, avoid sexually transmitted infections with contraception and limiting your number of sexual partners.

Most common treatments for bacterial vaginosis include prescription creams and gels along with antibiotic medication (Metronidazole, Clindamycin, Tinidazole).

Gastrointestinal Diagnostic Testing

Description

There are a wide variety of gastrointestinal screening. UltimateDX offers comprehensive diagnostic testing for conditions including Bacterial Gastroenteritis, Viral Gastroenteritis, and Stool Parasites. While pathogens are difficult to culture, UltimateDx’s state of the art facility is able to provide accurate and fast diagnostic results. Our molecular genetic testing capabilities allow for testing with great sensitivity and specificity for bacteria, viruses, and parasites

  1. Bacterial Gastroenteritis Pathogen Detection
    • Enteroinvasive E. coli
    • Escherichia coli
    • Enteropathogenic E. coli
    • Enteroaggregative E. coli
    • Enterotoxigenic E. coli
    • Enterohemorrhagic E. coli
    • Verotoxin positive E. coli
    • Campylobacter spp.
    • Clostridium difficile
    • Salmonella spp.
    • Shigella spp.
    • Yersinia enterocolitica
  2. Viral Gastroenteritis Pathogen Detection
    • Adenovirus
    • Astrovirus
    • Rotavirus
    • Sapovirus
    • Norovirus Gl/G2
  3. Stool Parasites Pathogen Detection
    • Giardia lamblia
    • Entamoeba histolytica
    • Cryptosporidium spp.

Symptoms

  1. Abnormal loss of weight
  2. Abdominal pain specifically in the left quadrant
  3. Bloody stool
  4. Colitis and enteritis
  5. Diarrhea
  6. Fever
  7. Nausea and vomiting
  8. Viral enteritis and noninfectious gastroenteritis

Causes and Risk Factors

  1. Gastrointestinal infections can be very easily contracted and can lead to flu like symptoms including: nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort or pain, bloody stool, and fever.
  2. While anyone can contract a gastrointestinal infection, some are at higher risk than others, including infants and children, elderly individuals, exposure to many people such as travelers and children in school, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Treatments and Prevention

  1. Gastrointestinal infections can vary greatly. Some common treatments that decrease the symptoms of infection include avoiding solid foods, dairy products, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and sugary or fatty foods.
  2. Additionally it is important to drink plenty of fluids and staying hydrated. It is essential to slowly ease back into eating normally by primarily eating simple foods.
  3. Avoid taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and diclofenac due to their ability to irritate the stomach.
  4. Medications such as Paracetamol can be taken to reduce symptoms of fever and abdominal pain.
